Annotation of first magazine

Anotation of a school magazine:

- There is an inspirational, short, snappy slogan – produces an overview of what to expect, in this case it feels like a magazine to show the success the students have achieved.

- Large bold logo representing the school it is clear and easy to see, standing bold out from the rest of the colours.

- The bold text mixed in between normal text is a good mix, it helps show the main message I would use this on my front cover because it makes the important message and main feature stand out.

- The issue number shown makes it look more professional and shows a sense of success to the magazine.

- The colours are a mix of blue and maroon, tied in through all writing and imagery. By using the image to supply a colour scheme ensures it all ties in and looks more professional. The clear match in colours makes it visually a success and attracts a person’s eye due to the brightness.

- This magazine has a clear sports theme to show the reader straight away what it is about, has a clear visible list to ensure the interests of many are catered for. This is a success due to widening its target audience by showing a range in what it offers.

- The image used is clear in what it is promoting, it ties in with the magazine scheme and it is eye catching due to the bright blue sky, this can be visually appreciated, I feel my magazine front cover will need a bright contrasting colour to draw attention to the magazine. More importantly it needs to tie in with the theme like this one does.

- The text being mainly white is a successful contrast to the colours on the front cover. This makes the writing stand out more – I would use this on mine along with a clear colour scheme.

- The clear theme is carried on throughout, the shadow image is clearly a sport, yet doesn’t overpower the main image, and it complements the message.

- For my own magazine front cover I would like to include the uniform in the picture to promote the school, as opposed to the P.E kit worn in this shot. I feel a uniform will make it look more professional, and it will revolve it around the school as a whole.
